Mumbai, May 10: Robert Vadra, husband of Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, on Friday paid a visit to Mumbai Devi temple in Mumbai. After praying at Mumba Devi temple, Robert Vadra said he arrived to seek blessings, but his visit turned unpleasant as soon as he entered the shrine. Devotees around Vadra started chanting 'Modi, Modi' (a reference to Prime Minister Narendra Modi) after Vadra set foot inside the temple.
Besides 'Modi, Modi' chants, Vadra was also greeted with slogans such as 'Modi Zindabad' and 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai'. As the situation got tense, the police swung into action and brought Vadra out. Reacting to sloganeering, Vadra said: "I have come here to seek blessings and want no politics at the temple. We are very happy to come here with the family, got good Blessing and we feel very good. Political things should not be done at the temple." Raebareli, Amethi Would Lay the Road for a Better India: Robert Vadra.
Earlier today, Vadra, son-in-law of late prime minister Rajiv Gandhi, wrote a post on Facebook, saying that politics is at "an all-time low". He apparently was responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's allegation that Rajiv Gandhi had used naval aircraft carrier INS Viraat as "personal taxi". Vadra said the attack on "assassinated Prime minister" was a sign of a desperate measure. Priyanka Gandhi Will Pose Strong Challenge to PM Narendra Modi in Lok Sabha Elections 2019, Says Robert Vadra.
"Politics at an all time low...Desperate measures are visible. Hitting out at an as assassinated Prime minister Shri RajivGandhi, to mislead the people of India.
A person who cannot defend himself ... We the family will strive for his vision n the people of India will. Fight for his dignity n respect. It’s only time, for a respectful change in our country (sic)," Vadra wrote.
