Mumbai, July 11: Actor Riteish Deshmukh is set to set to take the political plunge and will be fighting the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, say reports. Riteish Deshmukh, the son of late former Maharashtra chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, is reportedly going to fight the Lok Sabha polls from Latur constituency on a Congress ticket.
Deshmukh, who is currently doing multiple Bollywood films including Houseful 4 and Total Dhamaal, will soon be seen campaigning for elections if reports are to be believed. The actor is also doing a Marathi musical Mauli.
Earlier this month, Deshmukh was in the news after he left followers of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj upset by posting a photograph of himself in front of the Maratha warrior's statue at the Raigad Fort. He later apologised for hurting people's sentiments.
Deshmukh had posted two photographs of himself from the hill fort. One of these features him as he seems to bow to take blessings from the statue of Shivaji Maharaj. "Visited Raigad Fort this morning, the capital of Maratha empire. It's an unimaginable high to feel the presence of one of the greatest warriors born in India, Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Nothing is more invigorating than bowing down and seeking his blessings," he wrote.
In another photograph, Deshmukh, Ravi Jadhav, writer Vishwas Patil, Tejpal Wagh and Sandeep Patil were seen on the plinth of the throne with their back towards the statue. This didn't go down well with Shivaji followers. Riteish Deshmukh apologised with a note in Marathi, and said that like other "Shiv bhakts", he too was in awe of the atmosphere at the fort.
