New Delhi, May 30: Ravi Shankar Prasad on Thursday took oath as senior minister in the Narendra Modi’s government. The former Law Minister is likely to get a key portfolio in the Modi cabinet 2.0. He also held an additional portfolio of Electronics and Information Technology during the first term of the Modi government. During the NDA Government under Atal Bihari Vajpayee's prime ministership, Prasad was appointed Minister of Coal and Mines, Minister of Law and Justice, and Minister of Information and Broadcasting. He is also a designated senior advocate in the Supreme Court of India. Prasad has been practising at the Patna High Court since 1980. Prasad began his political career as a student leader in the 1970s organising protests against Indira Gandhi's government and was also jailed when the emergency was imposed by Gandhi's government in 1975. On Thursday Narendra Modi took oath as the Prime Minister for the second consecutive time. In the recently concluded elections, the BJP registered a landslide victory by winning 3030 seats, while the saffron party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) remained victorious on 353 seats.
