Mumbai, March 23: Ratnagiri–Sindhudurg Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 48 parliamentary constituencies in Maharashtra. Ratnagiri–Sindhudurg Lok Sabha seat polling was done on April 23 in the third phase of general elections. Shiv Sena's sitting Members of Parliament Vinayak Bhaurao Raut won the election for the second consecutive term from the constituency.
The Congress has fielded Navin Bandivadekar against Vinayak Raut in Ratnagiri–Sindhudurg Lok Sabha seat. The process of filing nomination for Ratnagiri–Sindhudurg Lok Sabha election began from March 28. The last day for nominations was April 4. While Shiv Sena is contesting 23 of the 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra, the Congress is fighting on 24. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), an ally of the Shiv Sena, will contest 25 seats. In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP-Shiv Sena -Swabhiman Paksha combine together won 42 out of the 48 seats in Maharashtra. The Congress bagged only two seats and NCP just four. Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to be held in seven phases - on April 11, April 18, April 23, April 29, May 6, May 12 and May 19.
