The Lok Sabha elections 2019 results of Ranchi parliamentary seat has been declared. Sanjay Seth of the BJP has defeated the Subodh Kant Sahay of the BJD. The seat went to polls on May 5 in the fifth phase of general elections. The constituency registered a total voter turnout of 69 per cent. The Ranchi constituency has remained a stronghold of the Congress, although from 1991 to 1999 the seat was in the hands of the BJP.  In the Lok Sabha Elections 2019, the Trinamool Congress has given its ticket to Sanjay Pandey from this seat while the Congress has fielded Subodh Kant Sahay from the Ranchi constituency. Of the 14 Jharkhand Lok Sabha constituencies, the constituencies of Kodarma, Ranchi, Khunti and Hazaribagh would be voting in phase 5, scheduled on May 6. Voting in all the 14 parliamentary constituencies of Jharkhand are scheduled to take place in four phases.

According to the ECI, voting will be held in the 4th phase, 5th phase, 6th phase and 7th phases of the Lok Sabha elections. Three seats were contested on April 29; four constituencies on May 6; four Lok Sabha segments on May 12; and three seats on May 19. The results will be declared on May 23.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Ram Tahal Choudhary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had won the Ranchi seat by defeating Subodh Kant Sahay of the Congress Party. The BJP candidate, who is the current MP of the constituency, had won the seat by 365,410 votes.
