Raipur, December 11: Big day for Chhattisgarh as the results of the 2018 Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly election will be declared on Tuesday. Ramanujganj Assembly Seat
Located on the Jharkhand Chhattisgarh border is the assembly seat of Ramanujganj which is part of the Balrampur district of Chhattisgarh. The current MLA from the constituency is Brihaspat Singh of Congress who defeated Ram Vichar Netam of BJP by 11592 votes in the 2013 elections. In the 2018 elections, BJP has given a ticket to Ramkishun Singh while Congress has stuck to Brihaspat Singh and the Janta Congress Chhattisgarh (JCC) opting for Mohan Singh. The constituency is the most populous town of Balrampur-Ramanujganj district. Tattapani (hot spring) brings in the tourists every year in the month of January and hosts a yearly fair.
Samri Assembly Seat
The Samri Vidhan Sabha Constituency is part of the Balrampur district in the state of Chhattisgarh. The seat comes under the reserved category, and the political parties can only field Scheduled Tribes (ST), candidate. In the last election, Dr Pritam Ram Tikry of Congress defeated BJP’s Siddhnath Paikra by a margin of 31,000 votes. The sitting MLA has not been given a ticket in the current election, and his replacement is Chintamani Maharaj of INC while BJP has fielded the same face. Mitaku Khakha of BSP is also in the race for winning elections from Samri.
Lundra Assembly Seat
Lundra Assembly seat is part of the Surguja district of Chhattisgarh and is reserved for the Scheduled Tribe candidate. Congress leader Chintamani Kanwar defeated Vijay Baba of BJP in the 2013 Assembly Elections. Facing prospect of anti-incumbency, the Congress has named Dr Pritam Ram to fight BJP’s Vijaynath Singh and BSP’s Maya Prajapati from the seat in 2018. About 70 percent of the population here belongs to the Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST).
Ambikapur Assembly Seat
The Ambikapur seat is located in the Surguja district of Chhattisgarh and was the capital of the princely state of Surguja before Indian independence. It also houses the divisional headquarter of the Surguja division and is an important seat of administration. The incumbent MLA is Congress’ TS Baba who defeated Anurag Singh Dev of BJP in the 2013 Assembly election by a margin of 19000 votes. In the current election, BJP have roped in Anurag Singh Deo to fight Janata Congress’ TS Singh and BSP’s Sita Ram Das.
Sitapur Assembly Seat
Sitapur Assembly seat is a reserved seat for Scheduled Tribes candidates and is part of the Surguja district of Chhattisgarh. The sitting MLA of Sitapur, Congressman Amarjeet Bhagat is in the fray for another shot at winning the elections. In 2013, he defeated BJP’s Raja Ram Bhagat by 17000 votes who have now brought in Gopalram Bhagat to fight the incumbent lawmaker. The newly formed JCC have their hopes lying on Munna Toppo to get the seat.
Jashpur Assembly Seat
The Constituency of Jashpur comes under Chhattisgarh’s Jashpur district and is reserved for Scheduled Tribe candidate. It is considered to be one of BJP’s stronghold seat with the party winning from here in the last three elections. In the 2013 elections, the Saffron Party’s Rajsharan Bhagat defeated Sarhul Ram Bhagat by a margin of 34000 votes. Govind Ram Bhagat has been given ticket by BJP this time around to fight Congressman Vinay Kumar Bhagat.
