Mumbai, September 7: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Ram Kadam, who has been in the line of fire over his 'kidnap girls' remark, has been ranked the worst MLA for two years in a row. Kadam took the 32nd rank in a list of 32 MLAs in a survey conducted by an NGO 'Praja Foundation' in 2017 as well as 2018. Addressing a gathering on Janmashtami, Kadam had declared that he would abduct girls and bring them to their rejected suitors and provided his phone number as a 'helpline'.
"If you have proposed to a girl and she has rejected you, I will help you 100 percent. Come to me with your parents and say that they approve her. Then, I will catch her and bring her to you," Kadam was seen boasting before the gathering.
According to a TOI report, the survey was prepared by Praja Foundation on the basis of feedback from 24,000 people. Kadam scored a zero on two parameters related to his attendance in Assembly and questions raised by him in the House.
The BJP had on Thursday reprimanded the Ghatkopar MLA after he publicly threatened to 'abduct' women and bring them to their spurned suitors for marriage. The BJP asked Ram Kadam to stay away from media interviews and debates on television channels. The party has been facing wrath since Kadam made the controversial remark at a dahi handi event.
On Wednesday, Kadam issued a public apology for his controversial remarks at a dahi handi festival on September 3 in Mumbai. He posted a video on Twitter apologising for his comments. In the video, the BJP MLA said that respect for my respect for mothers and sisters is most important for me. Kadam also blamed media for showing distorted video of what he said at the event.
