New Delhi, July 20: Shortly after Congress president Rahul Gandhi took the treasury benches by surprise as he went on to hug Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh took a jibe saying the former has started a 'Chipko Andolan' in Lok Sabha.

Reacting to Rajnath Singh's remark, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan too marked her disapproval of Gandhi's hug while the proceedings were underway. Mahajan said the Congress chief should know that the decorum of the House should be maintained at all cost.

"We have to maintain the decorum of House at all cost. No one from outside will come and warn us. The lawmakers themselves have to behave accordingly. I want you all to debate in harmony and work collectively, but I disapprove of such acts. I'm not saying this as Rahul ji is in Opposition. He is like my own son," the Speaker said.

Here is the video of Rahul Gandhi hugging PM Modi:

The contentious hug from Rahul Gandhi came after his 20-minute blistering speech against the Modi government, targeting it of spreading hatred and communal enmity among the people, apart from designing policies as per the whips and fancies of "top 15-20 businessmen" of the nation.
