Rajnath Singh Says Opposition Parties Joining Hands With Congress Will Have to Run #MeToo Campaign

Home Minister Rajnath Singh was made the Head of the GoM formed by Centre to "recommend measures" for effective implementation of the law against sexual harassment.

New Delhi, October 27: BJP leader and Home Minister Rajnath Singh, speaking at BJP youth event in Hyderabad on Saturday, said that the Opposition parties willing to join hands with Congress will be forced to run a #MeToo movement in the future. Rajnath Singh made the analogy saying that "whichever party went with Congress, no force in the world could save that patry from destruction." #MeToo in India: Government Panel to Strengthen Probe Into Sexual Harassment At Workplace to Be Headed by Rajnath Singh.

The Home Minister, taking a dig at the Opposition parties added that "Hope situation doesn't get to a point where the Opposition parties come together and form a gathbandhan (coalition) and are later forced to run a #MeToo campaign after getting ditched by the Congress."

On Wednesday, October 24, the Centre formed a Group of Ministers (GoM) to "recommend measures" for effective implementation of the law against sexual harassment in wake of the #MeToo movement. Home Minister Rajnath Singh was made the Head of the GoM. The Group of Ministers also include Road and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Women and Child Welfare Dept. Minister Maneka Gandhi.
