New Delhi, November 28: The voting for 199 Assembly seats in Rajasthan and 119 constituencies in Telangana began on Wednesday morning amid tight security. The polling for 106 seats in Telangana started at 7 am and will continue till 5 pm, while in the remaining 13 constituencies – considered as sensitive – voting began at 7 and will continue only till 4 pm. In Rajasthan, the polling will start at 8 am and continue till 5 pm.
Rajasthan:
In Rajasthan, among the 2,274 candidates, BJP has fielded 199 candidates for 199 seats, while Congress is contesting on 194 seats. Mayawati’s BSP has fielded 189 candidates, and others including RLD is fighting on two seats. LJD is contesting on 11 seats, and NCP has fielded only one candidate. Polling in Ramgarh constituency has been countermanded due to the death of BSP candidate Laxman Singh. Meanwhile, 1,678 individual candidates and small parties are contesting from various constituencies in the state. Altogether, 4,77,89,815 voters will decide the fate of candidates by exercising their rights in 51,965 polling booths. Among the voters, 2,41,61,569 are male voters, while 2,28,28,024 are women. Also, 222 are from other gender.
The key candidates fighting in the elections include – Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje (Jhalrapatan seat on BJP ticket), Sachin Pilot (Tonk seat on Congress ticket), Ashok Gehlot (Sardarpura seat on Congress ticket), Gulab Chand Kataria (Udaipur seat on BJP ticket) and Manvendra Singh (Jhalrapatan seat on Congress ticket). Telangana:
In Telangana, the total number of candidates contesting the polls for 119 seats is 1,821. Among them, ruling TRS has fielded 119 candidates, while opposition Congress is contesting in 99 seats along with its allies – TDP (13), TJS (8) and CPI (3). Amit Shah’s BJP has fielded 118 candidates, while Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM is contesting in only eight seats. Meanwhile, 1,453 individual candidates and small parties are contesting from various constituencies in the state.
Altogether, 2,80,74,718 voters will decide the fate of candidates by exercising their rights in 32,796 polling booths. Among the voters, 14166144 are male voters, while 1,39,05,689 are women. Also, 2,885 are from other gender.
The key candidates fighting in the elections include – Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (Gajwel seat on TRS ticket), KT Rama Rao (Sircilla seat on TRS ticket), Akbaruddin Owaisi (Chandrayangutta seat on AIMIM ticket), Uttam Kumar Reddy (Huzurnagar seat on Congress ticket) and K Laxman (Musheerabad seat on BJP ticket).
