The Congress government was defended in the courtroom by senior lawyer and party leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi. During the course of hearing on Monday, the court had observed that a whip issued by a political party cannot be used to force complete attendance at party meetings.

No Action Against Pilot Camp Till July 24

Pilot, along with 18 other Congress MLAs in Rajasthan, were issued a disqualification notice by the Speaker after they failed to attend two consecutive Congress Legislative Party (CLP) meetings called by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on July 13 and 14.

Apart from charging them with defiance of party whip, the Gehlot camp has also accused Pilot and his aides of conspiring to topple the state government. Audio intercepts were released by the government to allege a ploy between the Pilot camp and senior BJP leader Gajendra Singh Shekhawat to bring down the state government by engineering defections.
