Rajasthan Congress' Infighting Out in Public After Lok Sabha Polls Debacle; Ashok Gehlot Blames Sachin Pilot For Son's Defeat
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Monday held his deputy Sachin Pilot responsible for his son Vaibhav Gehlot’s defeat from the Jodhpur Lok Sabha constituency.
Jaipur, June 4: Days after Congress’ debacle in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in Rajasthan, infighting erupted within the party. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Monday held his deputy Sachin Pilot responsible for his son Vaibhav Gehlot’s defeat from the Jodhpur Lok Sabha constituency. However, Pilot refused to say anything on Gehlot’s comment.
During an interview with the ABP News, Gehlot said that as a state Congress chief, Pilot should take responsibility of Vaibhav’s defeat from the party stronghold, Jodhpur. Gehlot said, “I feel he should take responsibility for that seat at least." He further added that an individual could not be held responsible for the party’s debacle in the state. “It is a collective responsibility,” said Gehlot. The Rajasthan CM had won from this constituency five times in the past. Sachin Pilot May Quit as Deputy Chief Minister and Rajasthan Congress Chief if Rahul Gandhi Resigns.
Gajendra Singh Shekhawat of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won the Jodhpur Lok Sabha constituency with a margin of over four Lakh votes in spite of the fact that the Congress has six MLA’s in the parliamentary segment. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the grand old party failed to open an account in the state. All the 25 seats were won by the saffron party.
