Rajasthan Assembly Elections 2018: Vehicles Vandalised and Set on Fire After Clash Breaks Out Between Two Groups

Jaipur, December 7: Despite tight security, several vehicles were vandalised and set on fire on Friday after a clash broke out between two groups at a polling booth in Rajasthan. According to a tweet by ANI, the clash broke out at Subhash school in Sikar's Fatehpur. Reports inform that in the wake of the incident, voting remained affected for 30 minutes. The miscreants were later removed from the spot by police and voting resumed. Polling for the 200-member Rajasthan Assembly is being held across the state.

The polls, where candidates are fighting for 199 assembly seats, began at 7 am on Friday. As many as 2,274 candidates including 189 women are in the fray for 199 out of the 200 assembly constituencies in the state. According to reports, the election in Alwar district's Ramgarh constituency has been postponed due to the death of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate Laxman Singh. Rajasthan is currently under the leadership of Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, who is from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In Rajasthan, a high decibel battle between the incumbent BJP and Opposition Congress will be witnessed. According to details by Election Commission,  Rajasthan has 4.74 crore registered voters. About 1.44 lakh security personnel have been deployed for polling day.
