Jaipur, December 6: Leader of Loktantrik Janata Dal, Sharad Yadav, whose one candidate has been accommodated by the Congress in Rajasthan, issued a controversial remark while addressing an election rally in Alwar on Wednesday. Body shaming Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, Yadav said she has turned "moti (fat)" and needs some rest.

"Vasundhra ko aaram do, bahut thak gayi hain, bahut moti ho gayi hain, pehle patli thi. Humare Madhya Pradesh ki beti hai. (Give Vasundhara some rest, she is too tired...Has turned fat, earlier she was slim. She is our Madhya Pradesh's daughter)," Yadav said. Congress in Driving Seats in State Elections, BJP’s Bid to Return to Power in 2019 Will Fail: Sharad Yadav.

Yadav, a former Rajya Sabha MP and Union Minister, is known for making sexist remarks. Speaking at an event in Bihar last year, he said that the honour of vote is greater than the "honour of a daughter".

"If a daughter's honour is violated, her neighbourhood and her village lose their honour, but if a vote is sold, it is the country's honour that goes. All our dreams for the future evaporate," he had said.

Earlier, while speaking in the Parliament's Upper House, Yadav had allegedly taken a dig at the skin tone of South Indian women.

The Rajya Sabha was also witness to his racist slur while ridiculing matrimonial ads. "Your god is dark like (Union minister) Ravi Shankar Prasad (present in the House), but your matrimonial ads insist on white-skinned brides," he had said.

Yadav, who was then the JD(U) MP, was expelled by the Nitish Kumar-led party in September 2017 -- after he publicly disapproved the party's exit from the mahagathbandhan coalition in Bihar.
