Jaipur, December 11: As per the trends which have emerged in the first two hours of vote-count, the Congress has secured a definite lead on more than half of the constituencies contested. The party has crossed the halfway majority mark, and was leading in 108 constituencies by the time this report was first published.
According to India Today-Aaj Tak, the Congress was leading in 108 seats at 10am, whereas, the BJP was ahead in 76 constituencies at the time. 1 independent candidate had also taken a lead. Congress workers across Rajasthan have begun celebrations as the party is likely to form the next government in the state.
Following the Congress' victory, the party would be convening to take a tough call on who would be the next Chief Minister. The two major contenders for the post are: former CM Ashok Gehlot and party's state unit chief Sachin Pilot.
Pollsters who have analysed the initial numbers claim the electorate have reiterated the anti-incumbency sentiment against the Vasundhara Raje-government through their ballot choice. Top Ministers of the government are trailing from their respective constituencies.
The Ministers who trailing are -- state Social Justice Minister Arun Chaturvedi (Civil Lines), Water Resources Minister Rampratap (Hanumangarh), Agriculture Minister Prabhu Lal Saini (Anta), UDH Minister Srichand Kriplani (Nimahera), Gaupalan Minster Otaram Devasi (Sirohi seat) and Health Minister Kalicharan (Malvia Nagar).
