Rajasthan, the largest state in India in terms of area, will go to polls on December 7, 2018. The state of Rajasthan has 200 assembly seats and voting will be held in the state in a single phase. The counting of votes will take place on December 11 along with the four other states where polling will be simultaneously held. Meanwhile, a fresh pre-poll survey has given the Congress an edge in the state of Rajasthan and has predicted that Congress will win 142 seats in the state and that the incumbent BJP government will lose the state. The Congress may win 142 constituencies with an unprecedented vote share of 50 per cent, the survey claims. But the bad news for BJP does not end there, as the ruling BJP would be reduced to 56 seats with an electoral share of 34 per cent. The poll says that others and independents will not even win a single seat, but are predicted to receive 16 per cent. In the last assembly elections in Rajasthan in the year 2013, Narendra Modi, who was then the BJP's prime ministerial candidate, played a massive role in BJP winning the state. Vasundhara Raje, who is now the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, and is a member of the erstwhile Royal family, was projected as the chief ministerial face by the party and the incumbent Congress regime was led by senior leader Ashok Gehlot who facing an anti-incumbency factor. The BJP had won 163 seats out of the 200 in the state.
