Rajasthan Assembly Bypoll Result 2019: Congress Candidate Shafia Zubair Wins Ramgarh Bye-Election

Congress candidate Shafia Zubair has won Rajasthan’s Ramgarh assembly bypoll with a huge margin. Zubair registered a victory with over 12,000 votes.

Alwar, January 31: Congress candidate Shafia Zubair has won Rajasthan’s Ramgarh assembly bypoll with a huge margin. Zubair registered a victory with over 12,000 votes. The Congress candidate received 83, 304 votes. Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Sukhwant Singh got 71,053 votes, and Bahujan Samaj Party candidate Jagat Singh managed to gain just over 24,000 seats. The bypoll was held on January 29. The election to the seat was withheld during the assembly elections in the state on December 7 following the death of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate Laxman Singh. Around 78.45 percent voter turnout was recorded in the polling. A total of 278 voting centres were set up. There are total 2,35,625 voters in the area. Out of the total voters, 1,10,947 voters are females while 1,46,613 are males. In the recently concluded assembly elections, the Congress manage to form the government in the state after five years by defeating the BJP. The grand old party emerged as the single-largest party in Rajasthan with 99 seats, while the BJP managed to bag 73 seats in the assembly elections. Senior party leader Ashok Gehlot was sworn-in as the chief minister of the state, while Sachin Pilot became the Deputy CM.
