Mumbai, July 31: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Wednesday held a meeting with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, seeking her support for his planned agitation against the use of electronic voting machines (EVMs) in legislative elections held across the nation.

Thackeray, who has been alleging malpractices involving the EVM, has called upon Banerjee to join an upcoming morcha against the use of machines in the polls. Use Ballot Papers in Maharashtra Polls, Raj Thackeray Tells EC

Banerjee, while accepting Thackeray's invite, said her party - the Trinamool Congress  (TMC) - will offer absolute support to him in the protest against EVMs.

Update by ANI:

On being asked by reporters whether Banerjee would participate in the protest, Thackeray replied, "I came to meet her on the issue of use of EVMs in polls. I've invited her for a 'morcha' in Mumbai. She told me that her party is committed towards saving democracy. She said, "Main hun, aisa samajh lena. (Consider that I'll be in)"

Thackeray further told the press that he has no intention of knocking the judicial corridors over the issue. "I have no expectations from High Court, Supreme Court and the Election Commissioner," he said.
