Bhopal, November 23: Congress Uttar Pradesh chief Raj Babbar compared the falling rupee against dollar with the age of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mother in an unsavory comment. Raj Babbar, speaking at an Indore rally in poll bound Madhya Pradesh, said that “He (PM Modi) used to say that the Indian rupee has fallen so much against the dollar that it was nearing the age of the then prime minister (Manmohan Singh). Today, the rupee’s valuation has dropped so much, that it is inching closer to your beloved mother’s age.” Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mother Heeraben Modi is 97 years old. Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections 2018 full Schedule And Dates: Polling for All 230 Seats on 28 November, Counting of Votes on 11 December.

Babbar, who has been in news recently due to his comments on the naxals in Chhattisgarh, also spoke on the Ram Mandir issue in the Indore rally. He said that the Congress party is not opposed to the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya and added that even the Muslims want the temple to come up in Ayodhya now.

Accusing the BJP of playing politics in the name of Lord Ram, Babbar attacked BJP saying that the “BJP has never had any great passion for Lord Ram. It is only when the elections are around that the BJP starts seeking votes in Ram's name.” Babbar said at the rally that "BJP promises to build the Ram temple but hesitates to tell the date."

Raj Babbar was the subject of a political storm after his recent comment on how to reign in the Naxals and was criticized for calling the Naxals a revolutionary. Addressing a media briefing in Chhattisgarh on November 4, Babbar had said, "I only want to say that the people whose rights have been taken away, who are in misery, who are not being given their right worth, are laying their lives to get back their rights. However, usage of guns by either of the parties will not lead to any solution. A solution will only come out by addressing their problems and having a conversation with them."
