Raipur, March 23: Sunil Kumar Soni of the BJP won from Raipur Lok Sabha seat in Chhattisgarh. Raipur Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 11 parliamentary constituencies of Chhattisgarh. Raipur Lok Sabha seat went to polls in the third phase of general elections on April 23. The main electoral fight is between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress. Ramesh Bais of the BJP is the current Member of Parliament (MP) from Raipur Lok Sabha seat.
While the Congress has declared Pramod Dubey as its candidate for Raipur Lok Sabha election, the BJP fielded Sunil Kumar Soni. In Raipur constituency, the process of filing nomination began from March 28. The last day for nominations was April 4. Scrutiny was done on April 5 and the last date for the withdrawal of the nominations was April 8. The BJP registered a landslide victory in Chhattisgarh in 2014 Lok Sabha elections winning 10 out of 11 seats in the state. Congress, on the other hand, could win just one seat.
