Mumbai, August 14: A day after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking for relief for the flood ravaged Wayanad in Kerala, Gandhi wrote to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das and asked him to "extend the moratorium on repayment of loans by farmers to December 2019," in Kerala. "Despite the demand from the State government and the opposition parties to extend the moratorium on repayment of loans to December 31, 2019, the state level banker's committee as refused to consider the demand," Rahul mentioned in his letter.

Met authorities in their forecast predicted heavy to very heavy downfalls at isolated places in Kerala in the coming days.

On Tuesday, Rahul Gandhi wrote to PM suggesting "installation of early warning systems, specially designed landslide/flood shelters and developing long term strategy and action plan to protect lives and livelihoods of people and environment of Wayanad to be taken up on priority."
