Rahul Gandhi to File Nomination from Amethi Seat in Uttar Pradesh Today for 2019 Lok Sabha Elections

Indian National Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday will file his nomination papers for the Amethi parliamentary seat, a seat represented by him for the last 14 years.

Amethi, April 10: Indian National Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday will file his nomination papers for the Amethi parliamentary seat, a seat represented by him for the last 14 years. The nomination come after his decision to contest from second seat, Wayanad in Kerala, in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections beginning on Thursday, April 11. Rahul Gandhi to Contest From Wayanad: Furious CPM Vows to Defeat Congress President in Lok Sabha Election 2019.

Rahul will be accompanied by his mother and United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson Sonia Gandhi and his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for filing nominations, said Congress district unit spokesperson Anil Singh. Rahul Gandhi Calls BJP Manifesto for Lok Sabha Elections 2019 ‘Short-Sighted and Arrogant’.

"The Congress president will file his nomination papers and also hold a road show here, district unit spokesman of the Congress. The AICC president will undertake a 3-kilometre roadshow from Munshiganj-Darpipur to Gauriganj before filing his nomination. It is expected that businessman Robert Vadra, husband of Priyanka Gandhi, will join Rahul during his nomination.

In the 2014 general elections, Smriti Irani lost to Rahul Gandhi but drew attention by reducing the margin of victory for Rahul Gandhi. In the last five years, Irani has repeatedly visited Amethi and launched central government projects like the assault rifle production unit for which the foundation stone was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
