Raebareli, April 27: Indian National Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday made a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During an election rally in Raebareli, the Congress chief said that the unemployment rate in the country is highest it has been in 45 years. He also said that not even a single youth in the country can be heard saying, "Yes, chowkidar gave me employment." PM Narendra Modi Defends Demonetisation, Says 'No Job Loss Due to Note Ban'.

"Not a single youth in the country can say 'Yes, chowkidar gave me employment' because the unemployment rate in the country is highest it has been in 45 years," said Rahul Gandhi. The Congress Lok Sabha candidate from Amethi went on to say that in 70 years nobody did something as foolish as demonetisation and Gabbar Singh Tax, referring to Goods and Service Tax (GST).

10 lakh youth can be given employment in panchayats. The moment Congress government will come into power, we will hand over these jobs to the youth, said the Congress chief. Meanwhile, PM on Friday said that there was no job loss due to demonetisation. In an interview with a news channel, PM said demonetisation did not cause a rise in unemployment but restrained the flow of black money. "Those who claim there was job loss due to demonetisation don't have stats to back it. People are looking for excuses to discredit the huge decision of demonetisation," PM Modi said.
