New Delhi, May 5: Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Sunday hit back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his remarks on former Prime Minister and Rahul's father Rajiv Gandhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said in a rally in Uttar Pradesh's Pratapgarh district on Saturday that Rajiv Gandhi died as "Bhrashtachari No 1". The comment soon triggered a political storm with the Congress party launching an all out attack on Prime Minister Modi for his comment on the former PM and Congress leader. Rahul Gandhi Sunday mentioned PM Modi in his tweet and said that, "Modi Ji, the battle is over. Your Karma awaits you...All my love and a huge hug."

While addressing a rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Pratapgarh on Saturday, PM Modi accused the Congress and Rahul Gandhi of harping on the acquisition of Rafale aircraft only to tarnish his image. In his address on Saturday, PM Modi also referred to the Bofors scam case that devastated the Congress government of Rajiv Gandhi in the 1980s and ruined the party's prospects of returning to power for years.

Senior Congress leaders and AICC Communications chief Randeep Surjewala came down heavily on PM Modi for his Bhrashtachari jibe. Congress overseas chief Sam Pitroda and C Chidambaram also slammed the Prime Minister's comments and added that his remarks at the rally crossed all limits.
