Sohrabuddin Sheikh Encounter Case: Special CBI Court Acquits All 22 Accused Citing Lack of Evidence.
Here is what Rahul Gandhi tweeted:
Sohrabuddin and Kausar Bi were killed in 2005 -- in what is being alleged as a fake encounter. The case involved 22 policemen of Gujarat and Rajasthan, including six IPS officers - key accused among them being DG Vanzara - and two prominent BJP leaders - Amit Shah and Gulabchand Kataria.
Tulsiram Prajapati was killed in another encounter in 2006 -- which the CBI had earlier claimed to be an operation undertaken to eliminate a key witness in the Sohrabuddin case.
Justice Loya had died in November 2014 -- while attending a marriage in Nagpur, He was heading the bench hearing the Sohrabuddin case at the time of death. A section of activists and Bombay High Court lawyers had petitioned the Supreme Court earlier this year seeking an inquiry into the judge's "mysterious death". The apex court, however, ruled against their pleas.
