New Delhi, May 25: A day after conceding defeat in the recently held Lok Sabha Elections 2019, Congress president Rahul Gandhi is most likely to step down from party post on Saturday. The decision is expected to come in the Congress meeting to be held today in the national capital.

Earlier on Friday, a senior leader like Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Raj Babbar sent his resignation to Gandhi, following the humiliating defeat in the state. Other leaders, who lost the elections, too have either sent their resignation or are in planning to do so. Despite running a campaign like 'Chowkidar Chor Hai', and on Rafale deal, Congress could not cross the tally of 100-mark in the 542-seat Lok Sabha and could win only 52 seats.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah will be chairing a party meeting to decide on the cabinet ministers list. Nirmala Sitharaman, Smriti Irani, Rajnath Singh, Piyush Goyal and Ravi Shankar Prasad are expected to get the prominent post in the BJP government this time. NDA secured a thumping victory by clinching 352-plus seats in the Lok Sabha Elections 2019.
