Kerala seems the only state where the Congress party is gaining some ground. Congress President Rahul Gandhi, who contested Lok Sabha election from Wayanad constituency in Kerala for the first time, was leading by a huge margin. Congress candidate Benny Behnan is leading in the constituency. In 2014, Innocent had defeated Congress' stalwart PC Chacko by a margin of nearly 14,000 votes. Innocent who claimed that he rolled out development projects worth Rs 1,750 while being the MP had grabbed criticisms for not being accessible to his voters. He was also accused by Opposition for failing to deliver during the Kerala floods when hundreds of families in Chalakudy were affected.
