Rahul Gandhi in UAE: Congress President Launches Scathing Attack on Narendra Modi-led Government, Accuses PM of Dividing Country on Political Lines

Rahul Gandhi launched a veiled attack on PM Narendra Modi during his two-day visit to the UAE. While addressing the Indian Diaspora in Dubai, Gandhi alleged that the NDA government has divided the country on political lines.

Dubai, January 11: Congress President Rahul Gandhi, on Friday, launched a scathing (veiled) attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his two-day visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). While addressing the Indian Diaspora at a cricket stadium in Dubai, Gandhi alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government had divided the country on political lines. He said, “We can never run a country like India, believing that only one idea is correct and all others are wrong. The Congress President, taking a dig at the NDA government, said that he was sad to say the last four and half years back home was about intolerance. Gandhi also raked up the unemployment issue during his address. He said, “Single biggest problem that we face in India today is unemployment. We need to take this head-on. The Congress President also promised a special status to Andhra Pradesh, if the Congress comes to power in 2019. Earlier in the day, Gandhi called on Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum here and discussed continued bilateral relations in the 21st century.

Gandhi, who is in the UAE, will meet senior ministers of the country during his two-day maiden visit to Dubai and Abu Dhabi. During the meeting, the Congress president was accompanied by Indian Overseas Congress chairman Sam Pitroda and party leader Milind Deora.
