London, August 24: Congress President Rahul Gandhi today has taken a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding Doklam standoff while speaking at the International Institute of Strategic Studies in London. The Congress president said that the Modi government had not been able to drag Chinese troops out of the Doklam. He said that the Chinese forces were just withdrawn from the point of the altercation and not from the entire area.

Gandhi alleged the central government for not being able to analyse the Doklam issue correctly. He said, “Doklam is not a border issue. It is a strategic issue. It is part of a sequence of events. Doklam took place because the government viewed it as an event, whereas I view it as a process and would tackle it as a process.” The Congress president further said that the government would have avoided Doklam if it would have carefully watched the sequence of event happing the area, which led to the standoff.

Speaking on relations with Pakistan, Gandhi said that there was not one institution operating in Pakistan with whom we could initiate talks. He also cited the incident of Kargil to prove his point. Gandhi said that the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee also initiated talks, but Pakistani Army acted differently. He also attacked the Modi government for not having coherent and deep thought strategy for Pakistan.

At the event, Gandhi also slammed Rashtriya Swayammsevak Sangh (RSS). He said that RSS was capturing India’s institutions and was trying to change the nature of India. He further said that RSS’ ideology was similar to that exists in the Arab world with Muslim Brotherhood and due to this India’s institutions were torn down one by one.
