Rahul Gandhi Iftar Party: AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi Says Congress ‘Not Interested in Muslim Empowerment'
After taking the power of party president it was the first iftar party hosted by Rahul Gandhi.
Hyderabad, June 14: All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Chief Asaduddin Owaisi slammed Rahul Gandhi led-Congress party on Thursday for hosting iftar party on Wednesday evening in Delhi. According to ANI, Owaisi accused Congress of not being interested in Muslim empowerment and rather being keen on impressing Hindu vote bank. He said that it was for this reason that they invited former President Pranab Mukherjee.
After he was appointed as the party president, this was the first iftar party hosted by Rahul Gandhi. The iftar party was attended by prominent politicians including former Pratibha Patil, Mukherjee, Hamid Ansari and other politicians from opposition parties were also part in the event.
Meanwhile, Union Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi also hosted an iftar for Muslim women at his official residence in New Delhi on Wednesday. The event was attended by a host of his cabinet colleagues including home minister Rajnath Singh and law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad. Reacting to the Congress iftar party, Naqvi said that they were trying to use iftar for political engineering. He added that the BJP's goal is to empower Muslim women.
