Rahul Gandhi Hits Out at BJP After Congress-JDS Government Loses Trust Vote in Vidhana Soudha, Says 'Democracy, Honesty & People of Karnataka Lost'
Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday hit out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after the HD Kumaraswamy government lost trust vote in the Karnataka Assembly during the floor test. Gandhi in a tweet blamed the BJP for the collapse of the Congress-JDS government.
Bengaluru, July 23: Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday hit out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after the HD Kumaraswamy government lost trust vote in the Vidhana Soudha during the floor test. In a tweet, Gandhi blamed the BJP for the collapse of the Congress-JDS government. He said that democracy, honesty and people of Karanataka lost today. The former Congress President further added that the saffron party targeted the alliance in the state for its vested interests. He tweeted, “From its first day, the Cong-JDS alliance in Karnataka was a target for vested interests, both within & outside, who saw the alliance as a threat & an obstacle in their path to power. Their greed won today. Democracy, honesty & the people of Karnataka lost.”

After losing the trust vote, Kumaraswamy submitted his resignation to Governor Vajibhai Vala. Kumaraswamy in his resignation said, “I take this opportunity to extend grateful thanks for the cooperation given to me and my colleagues during the tenure.” The Governor accepted the resignation and asked him to continue as a caretaker Chief Minister till further developments take place.
Meanwhile, BJP State President B S Yeddyurappa said he will meet the governor to stake his claim to form the government in Karnataka after consulting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. BJP workers started celebrating in the party's state office in Bengaluru after the defeat of the Kumaraswamy government in the Assembly.
