Rahul Gandhi Attacks BJP, RSS in Guwahati, Says 'Assam Won't Be Run By Nagpur'
Indian National Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Speaking at a rally in Guwahati, he said that Assam knows its own culture and BJP and RSS tamper shouldn't be allowed to tamper with it. The former Congress president held BJP responsible for the nationwide protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act.
Guwahati, December 28: Indian National Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Speaking at a rally in Guwahati, he said that Assam knows its own culture and BJP and RSS tamper shouldn't be allowed to tamper with it. "Assam knows its culture and history, people know that they can together lead the state towards development and growth. We won’t let BJP and RSS tamper with it. "Wherever the BJP goes, it spreads hate. In Assam, youth is protesting, in other states protests happening as well. Why do you have to shoot and kill them? BJP doesn't want to listen to the voice of people," he added.
On Thursday, Gandhi targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his remarks that there were no detention centres in India, alleging that "RSS's prime minister lies to Bharat Mata".
Taking to Twitter, he shared a video clip in which the Prime Minister accused the grand old party, its allies of spreading the rumour that Muslims will be sent to detention centres. The clip also shows a purported detention centre being constructed in Assam.
Likening the NPR and the NRC to note ban, Gandhi on Friday, December 28, said that these exercises are "tax" on the poor, who will suffer the same way they did after the demonetisation in November 2016.
"Whether NPR or NRC, it is a tax on poor people of the country. You understand demonetisation. It was a tax on poor people. Go to banks and give your money but do not withdraw money from your account. Entire money went to the pocket of 15-20 rich people. This (NPR or NRC) is the same thing," he had said
