Shimla, March 7: Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of politicising the Pulwama terror attack. Addressing a rally in Kangra, Rahul Gandhi said while the Congress stood behind the government after the Pulwama attack, PM Modi played politics over it. As many as 40 Central Reserve Police Force personnel were killed when their convoy was targetted in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama.

"When Pulwama happened and action was ongoing with Pakistan, I held a press conference and said that Congress and all its leader and workers are standing with Indian Air Force and the government. We made it clear we'll not politicise it but it's sad that when the opposition was standing with the government, PM was politicising it," Gandhi said. A day after Pulwama terror attack, he held a press conference and said the entire opposition stands with the government and security forces. Rahul Gandhi Intensifies Attack on PM Narendra Modi After Rafale Deal Files Get 'Stolen' From Defence Ministry.

“This is a time of mourning, sadness, and respect. We are fully supporting the government of India and our security forces. We are not going to get into any other conversation apart from this,” he had had. On Thursday, Gandhi reiterated paramilitary personnel who are killed in the line of duty will be accorded with ‘martyr’ status if his party comes to power. Parallel Negotiations Delayed Rafale Delivery; Probe Everybody Including PM Modi: Rahul Gandhi.

"It's sad when someone from paramilitaries is martyred they don't get the status of a martyr. It shouldn't be that only CRPF or BSF aren't given the status. When our government comes, if a person from paramilitary is martyred in line of duty, he'll get status of a martyr," the Congress leader said. After the terror assault in Pulwama, Gandhi had tweeted, "The brave are martyred. Their families struggle. 40 Jawans give their lives but are denied the status of 'Shaheed'."
