Rafale Deal Verdict: Subramanian Swamy Seeks PM Narendra Modi’s Intervention in PAC Report to Save Govt From Embarrassment
The BJP leader opined that truth must come in front as it hampers justice.
New Delhi, December 16: Two days after the Supreme Court announced its verdict on the Rafale deal based on the PAC report presented by the Attorney General and Comptroller and Auditor General, and Congress raising questions on the authenticity of the report, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on Sunday said truth must come in front as it hampers justice. He also sought PM Narendra Modi’s intervention to save the government from embarrassment.
Expressing his concern on being informed that Attorney General denied of preparing the report, Swamy said, “Questions are natural, whenever an affidavit is submitted in a sealed cover... this time by chance they revealed the submissions in judgement otherwise we wouldn’t have come to know. If the judges base their judgement on this, it hampers justice.” Full Text of Rafale Deal Verdict by Supreme Court.
Adding more, he said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should intervene in the matter, as it must embarrass him too. “According to media Attorney General has said that he hasn't done it then who prepared this affidavit? I think the PM should find it out because it embarrasses him, that we can’t even prepare a proper English draft, they could’ve have given it in Hindi also.”
Earlier on Saturday, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman Mallikarjiun Kharge told that he would summon AG and CAG for ‘lying’ in the Supreme Court. He claimed that though being the chairman of PAC, he didn’t see the report.
Addressing the media, he said, “Government lied in SC that the CAG report was presented in the house and in PAC and PAC has probed it. Government said in SC it is in public domain. Where is it? Have you seen it? I am going to take this up with other members of PAC. We will summon AG and CAG.” Rafale Deal Verdict: Mallikarjun Kharge to Summon AG, CAG For ‘Lying’ in Supreme Court.
Accusing the BJP-led government of presenting false information to the court, Kharge had said, “I request all PAC members to ask the Comptroller and Auditor General to come out with details of when the case was placed before PAC and when it was examined. We will also try to call them.”
Reacting on the Kharge's statements, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy had commented on Saturday, "PAC Chairman Mallikarjun Kharge saying he has not got CAG report then we have to take his word, he should file affidavit or review petition in court saying I did not receive and the committee has not examined it."
