New Delhi, Sept 27: Continuing his verbal assault against the government on the Rafale deal row, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday took a poetic jibe on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of compromising the interests of the Indian Army for benefitting industrialist Anil Ambani.
The Gandhi's scion fresh tirade came in the aftermath of a report published by a leading English daily which claimed that the Ministry of Defence had flagged concerns over the new deal signed with Dassault Aviation -- the manufacturing firm of Rafale -- in 2016. A report published in The Indian Express today quoted a note submitted by the then Joint Secretary & Acquisition Manager (Air), marking concerns over the replacement of the erstwhile Rafale deal (for 126 fighter jets) with the new pact (for 36 jets) with the French arms firm.

Retaliating to the spree of attacks from the Opposition on the Rafale row, PM Modi said the Congress is aligning with foreign leaders to defame the national government.
"They are failing to form a mahagathbandhan with the Opposition parties of our nation. Now, they want to tie-up with other nations to defeat Modi," the Prime Minister said, while addressing a poll rally in Bhopal.
