Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh Lashes Out at Sukhbir Badal For Terming Farm Loan Waiver by Congress in Three States as Farce

Chandigarh, December 22: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Friday lashed out at former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal for his comments on the loan waiver announced by the Congress in the state. Captain Singh while taking a jibe at former CM Parkash Singh Badal and Sukhbir, he said that they should stop cheating people otherwise they would be thrown out of the political arena. Captain Amarinder Singh Slams 'Sikhs For Justice' For Planning to Separate Punjab From India With ISI Support.

The Punjab CM said, “Faced by imminent defeat in 2019 LS polls, Badals were running around like scared rabbits, with no hole to hide, said CM, adding that if they continued with their desperate efforts to cheat people, they would be thrown into political oblivion forever by the electorate.”

On Thursday, the Shiromani Akali Dal president said that the recent loan waivers announced by the Congress governments in three states were a farce. The former deputy CM made these comments at an Akali Dal party workers' meeting in Fazilka. The new Congress governments in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan announced loan waivers, promised by the party ahead of the recent assembly elections. Sharing figures of loan waivers given by his government in the state, he said that his government has so far disbursed Rs 3595.04 crore to 4,28,246 farmers as loan waivers. Of this, Rs 1815.78 crore has gone to 3,17,965 marginal farmers who took loans from cooperative banks and Rs 1779.26 crore to 1,10,281 others who got them from commercial banks, he said. The chief minister also reiterated Congress president Rahul Gandhi has promised waiver of farm loans across the country if the party wins the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
