Chandigarh, July 27: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira today expressed disappointment on the party’s decision to remove him as the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Punjab Legislative Assembly. Khaira also thanked his party MLAs who came in support of him. He said, “I'm not disappointed by my removal as Punjab's leader of the opposition. If given a chance again, I will carry on the same agenda I had for Punjab. I thank those who have supported me and would like to tell them that this is the time to be strong.”

Khaira informed about his removal as the LoP through a tweet.  Khaira said that he would sacrifice 100 such positions while fighting for Punjab and Punjabis

The AAP MLA also expressed resentment at the decision. Addressing a press conference at Chandigarh Press Club Khaira said that he would resent party’s decision but would not leave the party. The supporters of Khaira called the decision as undemocratic and urged the party chief Arvind Kejriwal to revoke the decision.

According to a report published in Tribune, earlier in the day, Khaira also held meeting with the five AAP MLAs at his house in Sector 5 with lasted for over an hour. In 2017 assembly elections Khaira won from Bholath constituency. The AAP on Thursday removed the Bholath MLA as the LoP in Punjab Assembly. Dirba MLA Harpal Singh Cheema has been made the new Leader of Opposition.
