Puducherry Joins Punjab, MP, Bengal, Kerala to Oppose CAA; CM V Narayanasamy Says Law Won't be Implemented

Puducherry, December 18: With Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala and West Bengal governments stated clearly that they would not implement the recently amended Citizenship Amendment Act in their state, Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy on Wednesday confirmed that he would too not open the doors for CAA in southern-most Union territory.
Speaking to the reporter in Puducchery, CM Narayanasamy said, as news agency ANI quotes, "We had already said that this will be difficult to implement, so, Puducherry will also toe the line of Punjab and Madhya Pradesh." Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to immediately repeal the CAA 2019. Singh had mentioned that he is disturbed by reports from Delhi in the wake of anti CAB protests at Jamia Millia Islamia. Aprt for this, Captain Singh had made it clear that his government would not allow CAA to be implemented in Punjab, as it was an attack on the country's secular character.
Not only Singh, Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee had also stated that they would not allow the controversial CAA in their respective states. Banerjee had even claimed that if the Central government want to implement the CAA in West Bengal, they would have to do this over her dead body.
