Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy entered a drain equipped with a spade and started cleaning it, and the video of the act is also being shared online widely. The video, that has gone viral, and shared by the Chief Minister's official Twitter account, is part of the Swachhata Hi Seva movement which was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September. The stated reason for the movement is to encourage public participation in keep one's surrounding clean. The Congress leader, dressed in pristine white shirt and a dhoti, entered the drain with a spade in ankle deep water and started taking out muck from it. This marks a departure from other politicians engaged in similar camera cleanliness acts, as this time a politician actually entered the drain, even if for a while, commented the social media. Later, the leader also tweeted that "This whole year we are going to celebrate Father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi 150 year dedicated life His path of non violence freedom struggle Religious harmony relevant even today India 's secularism is surviving against communal forces in India because of Gandhi's teachings." In another tweet, Narayanasamy shared a picture with Congress party leaders from the Congress Working Committee meeting in Wardha.
