Amethi, January 23: Congress President Rahul Gandhi, speaking on the entry of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in active politics, said that he is "personally very happy" that Priyanka will be working side-by-side with him. The Congress President said that the "BJP is scared" with the news of Priyanka entering politics. Gandhi, speaking to reporters in Amethi, said that he hopes Priyanka will take forward the ideology of the Congress party. Congress President Rahul Gandhi appointed Priyanka Gandhi as the AICC General Secretary for UP East.

Rahul Gandhi also called Jyotiraditya Scindia a dynamic leader and termed his appointment as AICC general secretary in UP West as an important step. He also said that he respects the SP and BSP and Mayawati. However, when asked if Priyanka would contest the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul said that it is something which will be decided later and the party is not looking at Priyanka's entry in Congress that way.

The top guns in Congress party have been reacting on Priyanka's entry in politics and Uttar Pradesh before the Lok Sabha Elections 2019. Sachin Pilot said that "Congress workers all over the country are happy with Priyanka entering politics".  Pilot, who is the deputy chief minister of Rajasthan, said that, "now that Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi will work together, the BJP will have to be careful." However, even he declined to answer the question whether Priyanka Gandhi will contest the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
