Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Tweets For The First Time, Days After Making Twitter Debut; Here's What She Wrote
Gandhi tweeted out two tweets in quick succession-one on Mahatma Gandhi's Sabarmati Ashram and the other quoting the Father of the Nation against violence.
New Delhi, March 13: Almost a month after joining Twitter, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday tweeted for the first time. In her tweets, she remembered the Father of the Nation- Mahatma Gandhi and his ideals of non-violence. Gandhi tweeted out two tweets in quick succession-one on Mahatma Gandhi's Sabarmati Ashram and the other quoting the Father of the Nation against violence. "In the simple dignity of Sabarmati, the truth lives on" she wrote in her first tweet which was liked over 24,000 times and retweeted over 7,000 times in no time. In another tweet, Priyanka shared a photograph of a room in Bapu's Sabarmati Ashram, with the chakra (spinning wheel). She quoted Mahatma Gandhi famous quote, 'I object to violence because when it appears to do good, the good is only temporary; the evil it does is permanent', in her second tweet.

The newly appointed leader had joined Twitter on February 11. She currently has two lakh 39 thousand followers on the microblogging site. She was appointed AICC General Secretary for Uttar Pradesh East by Congress president Rahul Gandhi on January 23. In the earlier elections, Priyanka had kept herself limited to campaigning for Rahul and Sonia Gandhi in Amethi and Raebareli parliamentary constituencies only. During her first election rally in Gujarat on Tuesday, the newly appointed Congress general secretary told electorates that their votes are a “weapon” which should be used wisely, disregarding useless issues and tall claims made by others. Amid loud cheers from the crowd at the rally in Gandhinagar, she said, “Your awareness is a weapon, your vote is a weapon. It is a weapon where no one will get hurt or sad, it is that weapon which will make you strong".
