Lucknow, October 22: Posters have propped up in Uttar Pradesh's Rae Bareli attacking Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for her absence from the constituency over the recent festive season. Taking a communal jibe against her, the posters asked whether she will be back in the town only on the next Eid.
Priyanka, though not an elected representative of Rae Bareli, is known for campaigning on her mother Sonia Gandhi's behalf since the last three Lok Sabha polls. Rumours are also rife that Sonia would be vacating the seat for Priyanka, who could be making her political debut in the general elections next year. The poster condemns Priyanka for not attending the Hindu festivals of Navratri, Durga Puja and Dussehra, apart from not meeting the victims of Harchandpur train accident, and the NTPC blast in Unchahar.
Congress district unit chief VK Shukla blamed the BJP behind the posters, calling it "another dirty trick" used by the party to defame the Gandhi family. "People of Amethi will give a befitting reply. Such propaganda will not mislead them," he said.
