New Delhi, July 14: Days after a poor show in the Lok Sabha Elections, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has been appointed as President of Uttar Pradesh Congress, report said. Priyanka Gandhi entered politics ahead of the general elections in January this year. She was given charge of eastern Uttar Pradesh during the parliamentary polls. After the loss, Priyanka decided to meet party workers regularly as part of her plans for the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Party workers can interact with her every Tuesday and Thursday between 10 am and 1 pm. These meetings will be held at Congress President Rahul Gandhi's residence in Delhi.
To introspect its loss in the recently concluded general elections, a three-member panel had been set up by the Congress to look into complaints of gross indiscipline during the election, reported Zee News. The Congress managed to win only one seat out of 80 in the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections. Even the then Congress President Rahul Gandhi also lost his seat from Amethi. Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Smriti Irani defeated him.
The grand old party in the 2019 parliamentary polls failed to put up a strong fight against the BJP. The grand old party managed to win only 52 seats overall.
