Priyanka Gandhi Terms Manner of Abrogation of Article 370 'Unconstitutional', Says 'Rules Not Followed' in Scrapping J&K Special Status

On August 5, the Government of India introduced two bills which scrapped Article 370 and bifurcated the state of Jammu and Kashmir into two separate Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The abrogation of Article 370 was preceded by heavy deployement of the armed forces and para-military forces in the valley and the snapping of internet services.

New Delhi, August 13: Congress AICC General Secratry Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday reacted on the abrogation of Article 370 and opposed the manner in which government abrogated Section 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. Priyanka termed the abrogation of Article 370 was "unconstitutional". Priyanka was speaking to reporters in Umbha village. A total of 10 tribals were killed in violence in the village in Umbha due to a land dispute. Priyanka met the families of Sonbhadra massacre victims, as the case came to be known. Priyanka had tried to meet the families of the victims earlier in June but the Mirzapur administration did not give her the permission as she was held in Chunar guest house, where she met the families of the victims. Jammu and Kashmir Celebrates Eid al-Adha After Revocation of Special Status.

The Government also ordered the snapping of means of communications and total breakdown in the internet connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir. A senior official in the Home Ministry was quoted saying by The Indian Express that the restrictions in place in Jammu and Kashmir would only be lifted after the local authorities give their nod ahead for the same.
