Priyanka Gandhi Slams Yogi Adityanath Government Over Law And Order Situation, UP Police Say Crime on Decline
Priyanka Gandhi said criminal activities are on rising but the Uttar Pradesh government is in deep slumber.
Lucknow, June 29: Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi on Saturday slammed Yogi Adityanath government over law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh. In a tweet, Priyanka Gandhi said criminal activities are on rising but the Uttar Pradesh government is in deep slumber. She also sought to know whether the state government has "surrendered before criminals".
"In Uttar Pradesh criminals are roaming freely and doing whatever they want. Criminal incidents are taking place one after the other. However, its BJP government has turned deaf. Has the Uttar Pradesh government surrendered before criminals?" Priyanka Gandhi tweeted. She also attached a collage of news reports highlighting the various incidents of the crime in the state. Priyanka Gandhi's tweet did not go well the Uttar Pradesh Police which sent a quick reply to the Congress leader. The UP Police said the state witnessed 20 to 35 percent decline in crime rates. "Strict action has been taken against those involved in heinous crimes...Visible policing, strong monitoring, effective action against hardened criminals and public interaction has enabled us to win the confidence of people," the UP Police said.

This is not the first time that Priyanka Gandhi has slammed the state government over the deteriorating law and order situation. "In Uttar Pradesh atrocities are being done on innocents. Women are being pushed into an environment of fear. People are being burnt alive. But the people in power are unable to see anything. When will the Uttar Pradesh government start taking responsibility for the safety of women and girls," she had tweeted.
