New Delhi, June 13: Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi on Wednesday reprimanded party workers over the party's poor show in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections. Expressing her disappointment over Congress's performance in her mother Sonia Gandhi's constituency Raebareli, Priyanka Gandhi said she would not mince words about party men not doing enough to ensure victory.

Priyanka, who was made in-charge of eastern Uttar Pradesh months before the Lok Sabha polls, accompanied Sonia Gandhi for a thanksgiving visit to Raebareli. "I did not want to deliver any speech here but since I have been asked to speak, let me speak the truth. The truth is that this election was won with the help of Sonia Gandhi and the people of Raebareli," said the furious Congress leader. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra As CM Candidate in 2022, Demand Party Workers in Rae Bareli.

In her brief address, Priyanka made no bones about her disappointment with Congress workers. "You all know about those who worked religiously and I will find out about those who did not work for the party in the elections," she said. The Congress party could win just one (Raebareli) out of 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh. While the Congress party could increase its tally to 52 from 44, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, 303 seats on its own and 352 with its NDA allies. Congress was wiped out in 18 states and Union Territories. Earlier Sonia Gandhi had attacked the BJP, accusing the ruling party of "crossing limits of dignity" to retain power and deliver a second successive term in office for Modi.
