New Delhi, August 16: Hours after Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's tweet, a criminal case has been registered against the leader for her comments on the Pehlu Khan case verdict. The case has been filed in the Muzaffarpur CJM Court by an advocate named Sudhir Ojha. "The acquittal was done by the court due to lack of search, however, Vadra today tweeted against the verdict and this could generate religious frenzy and it also a contempt of court," said Ojha. “The lower court decision in the Pehlu Khan case is shocking. There should be no place for inhumaneness in our country and the murder by a mob is a heinous crime,” Priyanka tweeted on Friday.

In another tweet, Priyanka lauded the Rajasthan government's recent decision of enacting a law against mob killing. "The Rajasthan government's initiative to enact a law against mob killing is commendable. It is hoped that a good example of this will be set by providing justice in the Pehlu Khan case," she said. After a Rajasthan court acquitted all six men accused of lynching Pehlu Khan in the 2017 case, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday said that the state government will file an appeal against the order.
"Our state government has enacted a law against mob lynching in the first week of August 2019. We are committed to ensuring justice for the family of late Pehlu Khan. The state government will file an appeal against the order of Additional District Judge," Gehlot said in a tweet.
