Patna, October 16: Just a month after joining the Janata Dal United (JDU), poll strategist Prashant Kishor has been elevated to the post of party vice-president by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The post had been vacant since 2016 after Shard Yadav’s expulsion from the party. While talking to news agency PTI, JDU spokesperson KC Tyagi said that Kishor’s elevation would help the party to gain voters from social segments apart from its traditional vote base.

Kishor joined the JDU on September 16 in Patna in the presence of the Bihar CM. The poll strategist carved out the prime ministerial campaign of Narendra Modi ahead of 2014 Lok Sabha elections and the chief ministerial campaign of Nitish Kumar in 2015 Bihar assembly polls. He also strategised the Congress poll strategy for Punjab and Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections of 2017. Before taking the political plunge, Kishor hinted about his move of joining the politics during an event in Hyderabad.

Kishor is a former public health expert. He was associated with the programmes run by the United Nations. Kishor also founded the Indian Political Action Committee (IPAC) which recently conducted a survey to gauge who is the most preferred leader, whom the nation wants to elect as the Prime Minister in 2019. Notably, 48 per cent of the online voters rallied behind Modi, followed by 11.2 per cent for Congress chief Rahul Gandhi.
