Bhopal, April 21: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Bhopal Lok Sabha constituency, Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur on Sunday replied to Election Commission’s (EC) show cause notice over her controversial remarks on former Anti-Terrorist Squad Chief late Hemant Karkare. In her reply, Sadhvi said that she did not make any defamatory comments for any martyr. Captain Amarinder Singh Slams Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur For Controversial Remarks on 26/11 Martyr Hemant Karkare.

She further added, “I had mentioned about the torture inflicted on me on orders of the then Congress government. It’s my right to put before the public what had happened to me…” The BJP candidate also alleged that the media twisted her statement. In her statement, Sadhvi stated that she had not violated the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).

Sadhvi's reply to EC:

The EC on Saturday had issued a notice to the BJP Lok Sabha candidate from Bhopal for violating the MCC and sought an explanation from her for her comment on Late Hemant Karkare within a day. Sadhvi who was accused in 2008 Malegaon blast, is contesting against Congress spokesperson Digvijaya Singh from Bhopal. The polling in Bhopal will take place in the sixth phase on May 12. The results will be declared on May 23. Immediately after the announcement of dates for the Lok Sabha elections 2019, the MCC has come into force.
