Bhopal, July 21: Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) controversial Member of Parliament (MP) from Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal, Pragya Singh Thakur, can be heard saying in a video that she is not an MP who will "clean toilets and drains." The comments were reportedly made to a group of citizens who had reached out to the MP. She made the remarks in MP's Sehore district. Pragya Singh Thakur, while making the comments, is seen surrounded by several other party workers. After she made the remark, people were heard clapping for her comments.

Pragya Thakur has had a history of making controversial and irresponsible statements. During the campaigning for the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Pragya Thakur became a polarising figure due to her comments and even angered Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Pragya Singh Thakur had commented on 26/11 martyr and former Mumbai Anti-Terrorist Squad chief Hemant Karkare. She had said that Hemant Karkare, who died during the Mumbai terrorist attack, had treated her "very badly." She further said that he died of his "karma." She had also kicked up a political storm calling Nathuram Godse a "patriot".
